Types of Calendars 2017

There are over forty calendars now in use, and lots of more which were used or have been devised. They therefore come in several kinds. They could be broken into six types:
1. Lunar calendars that are only

2. Just solar calendars
These calendars have years which treaty with all the seasonal cycle and start at or near a fixed point in that cycle ( for instance, the vernal equinox).

3. Lunisolar calendars
These calendars plan to be lunar calendars and solar calendars, but are more successful in monitoring the seasonal cycle in relation to the lunar cycle. Such a calendar contains years which allow with the seasonal cycle and months which allow more or less with the lunar cycle. An example of a lunisolar calendar is the Liberalia Triday Calendar (which is uncommon in that it's both a solar calendrical part along with a lunar calendrical part, the solar part being more precise in relation to the lunar).
4. Solilunar calendars
These calendars plan to be lunar calendars and solar calendars, but are more successful in monitoring the lunar cycle in relation to the seasonal cycle. (However there might not really be much point in differentiating solilunar calendars from lunisolar calendars; they can all really be termed lunisolar calendars.)

5. Other calendars
These calendars seemingly make no or little effort to treaty with the cycles of the Moon or of the Sun. For instance, the Long and also the Tzolkin Count in the Maya Calendar. A few of these calendars may harmonize with other astronomical cycles, including that connected with the planet Venus.
One calendrical scholar (Lance Latham) has indicated that a categorization of calendars should additionally contain the type of 'luni-stellar'.
